Description:
The Prompt: OUTSIDE
more precisely:
- Imagine you have been inside for a long time. You have lost track of the days. You can’t quite remember what is outside.
- Look around the room you're are in. Look at the door. Imagine what might be on the other side, Outside.
- Make a game about emerging, from inside to outside, and what you find there.
- This transition, stepping through a portal or through a doorway, marks the beginning of the game.
- Similar narrative structure examples: The Wizard of Oz or The Matrix. Inverse examples (outside->inside): Alice in Wonderland; The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
Team Response:
For our game, the player controls a young dragon charged with exploring the unknown world above after a long hibernation.
- Dragons retreated into volcanoes to sleep out an ice age. After ages pass, they awaken to discover the world has changed drastically since they retreated beneath the mountain...
- A very literal emergence from the inside of a safe haven to an unknown world outside
- The Player must navigate this new world, full of foreign things and concepts
Postmortem
If time allowed, the team would like to improve the game by:
- Fire Breath
- Better sewer puzzle
- More interactables
- Better looking UI
- Printing letters for interactions instead of the whole text at once
- Random creatures to befriend or talk to
- More custom textures for levels
- Replayability / More actual levels
- More story
